Warriors come up a point shy to advance to the HVIAC championship

On Wednesday, October 26, the Vaughn College Warriors women's tennis team battled the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) semifinals. The Warriors played extremely hard but came up a point shy off advancing to their first ever HVIAC championship.

Vaughn College got out to a promising start winning two out of three doubles matches against the College of New Rochelle. Christina Deluca (Massapequa, NY) teammed up with Grace Davis (Belfast, ME) to defeat their doubles opponents 8-3. Cheres Castaneda (Brooklyn, NY) was paired with Omomhene Eimunjeze (New York, NY) to secure the Warriors second doubles win. They defeated their opponents by a final score of 8-4.

The Warriors struggled in their singles matches against the Blue Angels. Casteneda and Eimunjeze were bright spots for Vaughn College, both coming up with huge wins against their singles opponents.  Unfortunately for Warriors, the Blue Angels would get the final victory they needed to end the Warriors great post season performance. Vaughn College would lose to the College of New Rochelle by a final score of 5-4.

The women's tennis team season comes to an end with the loss. The Warriors will look to build on what they accomplished this season heading into next year.
