Bryant, White and Garcia Lead the way for the Lady Warriors against the Falcons

On Saturday, February 11, the women's basketball team traveled to Davis College to take on the Falcons. Both teams entered the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) contest fighting for a top four position to qualify for post season play. 

The Lady Warriors struggled on both sides of the ball in the first half. They trailed the Falcons 47-29 at the break. Vaughn College would storm back in the second half. The Lady Warriors increased their level of focus and defensive intensity. They forced the Falcons to turn the ball over 21 times in the game. unfortunately for the Lady Warriors, they would not be able to come back from their first half deficit and would go on to lose the game by a final score of 93-72.

Vaughn College was led by a trio of freshmen. Kayla Bryant (Bronx, NY) scored a team high 22 points and dished out six assists. Nicole White (St. Pauls, NC) finished the game with 16 points and eight rebounds. Imani Garcia (Brooklyn, NY) had another solid night shooting the basketball. Garcia hit five triples in the contest and finished the game with 15 points. This is the second game in a row that Garcia has connected on five long-range shots. 

The loss to the Falcons eliminates the Lady Warriors from qualifying for the HVIAC playoffs. The women's basketball team will host Pratt Institute on Thursday, February 16, for their final game of the regular season.
