Garcia Breaks Out against the Panthers

The Vaughn College women's basketball team hosted the Albany Pharmacy College Panthers on Saturday, February 4, at Elmcor Recreation Center. The Lady Warriors relinquished an early lead and had to climb back into the game. Vaughn College would be plagued by foul trouble down the stretch hindering their comeback effort. The Lady Warriors would fall to the Panthers by a final score of 81-53.

Despite the tough loss, freshman Imani Garcia (Brooklyn, NY) had a breakout performance against the Panthers. Garcia connected on five triples in the HVIAC match-up. She finished with a career high 19 points and recorded three rebounds and one steal.

Junior captain Maia Rivers (Dix Hills, NY) also poured in 19 points in the contest. Rivers filled the stat sheet with five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

The women's basketball team will return to action on Thursday, February 9. They will host HVIAC opponent Pratt Institute for the Vaughn College Breast Cancer awareness game. The contest is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
