Lady Warriors Outlasted by PSU Brandywine

On Monday, January 9, the Vaughn College women's basketball team faced United States Collegiate Athletic Conference (USCAA) division II opponent Penn State University (PSU) Brandywine. The Lady Warriors competed extremely well throughtout the entire game. 

PSU Brandywine held a 19 point advantage after the first quarter. The Lady Warriors would battle back in the second quarter to cut the deficit. The Lady Warriors had a opportunity to bring the lead underneath 10 points in the third quarter but struggled defensively. Vaughn College would go on to fall to PSU Brandywine by a final score of 81-53.  

Freshman guard Kayla Bryant (Bronx, NY) led the way for the Lady Warriors. Bryant finished with 22 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and seven rebounds. Maia Rivers (Dix Hills, NY) filled the boxscore with 11 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals. Gabrielle Robinson (New York, NY) added eight points, four rebounds and a pair of steals.

The Lady Warriors will look to regroup before their next contest on Tuesday, January 17. They will take on NCAA division III non-conference opponent Pine Manor College at home. The game will tip off at 5:00 p.m.
