Lady Warriors downed by PSU Lehigh Valley

The Vaughn College women's basketball team faced the Penn State University (PSU) Lehigh Valley Nittany Lions on Friday, November 18. This was homecoming for the Lady Warriors. Unfortunately the women's basketball team was not at full strength and only dressed seven players for the game. The Nittany Lions took full advantage of the undermanned Lady Warriors team, putting the game out of reach early in the first half. The Lady Warriors competed hard  but struggled the entire game against the Nittany Lions. The women's basketball team would go on to lose big in their homecoming game by a final score of 97-35.

Turnovers, poor three-point shooting, and rebounds all contributed to the huge defeat. The Lady Warriors turned the ball over 31 times, connected on only three triples out of 25 tries and were out-rebounded 60-36 by the Nittany Lions.

Junior Maia Rivers (Dix Hills, NY) and freshman Nicole White (St. Pauls, NC) were bright spots for Vaughn College. Rivers reached double figures for the second time this season. She finished with 12 points and a career high 13 rebounds. White scored a team high 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

The women's basketball will return to action after the Thanksgiving  holiday break. On Thursday, December 1, they will travel to Massachusetts to play against NAIA division II opponent Fisher College.
