Lady Warriors Open up Season against Pratt Institute

On Saturday, November 12, the Vaughn College women's basketball team opened up their 2016-17 season against Pratt Institute. The Lady Warriors battled for the entire game but was unable to come away with a victory. Pratt Institute defeated Vaughn College by a final score of 72-53.

All-Conference guard Maia Rivers (Dix Hills, NY) led the way for the Lady Warriors. The junior captain poured in a game high 27 points and pulled down nine rebounds. The Lady Warriors dynamic freshman backcourt Kayla Bryant (Bronx, NY) and Nicole White (St. Pauls, NC) played well for their first collegiate basketball game. Bryant chipped in 10 points, secured five rebounds and had three steals. White registered seven points, grabbed a team high 10 rebounds and finished with four steals.

The Lady Warriors will look to regroup when they play USCAA division II opponent Penn State University Lehigh Valley for Homecoming on Friday, November 18. The game will be played at Elmcor Recreation Center at 6 p.m.
