Carty Sets the Pace for the Phoenix at Queensborough Invitational
Bronx, NY - The Vaughn Phoenix cross country team competed at the Queensborough Invitational on Sunday, October 6. Hosted by Queensborough Community College, the event hosted 162 runners from various schools compete in the challenging 8K (5-mile) race.
The Phoenix had three runners finish the demanding course. Freshman Demetrius Carty was the first to cross the finish line for Vaughn, completing the race in 35:26 with a pace of 7:07 per mile. Teammate Kadeem Alexander followed closely behind, finishing in 41:05 with an 8:14 mile pace. Angel Tejada completed the race in 57:14, showcasing the team's determination despite the tough conditions.
The performance of these runners reflects the ongoing growth and competitive spirit of the Vaughn Phoenix as they continue to build momentum this season.
