Men's Playoff Run Ends In Conference Semifinals

The Vaughn College Warriors men's soccer team battled with the SUNY ESF Oaks in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) semifinals on Saturday, October 26. The two teams met in the final game of the regular season just weeks before the semifinal showdown. The Warriors trailed the Oaks twice during the game before storming back to force overtime. Unfortunately the Warriors would fall to the Oaks, 3-2, in the first overtime period on a penalty kick.

The highly anticipated rematch between both teams was played on the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences athletic turf field in Albany, NY. Both teams started off the game timid with a trip to the HVIAC conference finals at stake. The Warriors failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities early in the game and it would plague them down the stretch.

The Oaks scored the first goal of the game in the 19 minute on another penalty kick against the Warriors. They would score another goal right before the break period to give them a 2-0 advantage.

Despite being down two goals for most of the game the Warriors continued to compete hard in efforts to mount a comeback. The men's soccer team has shown how resilient they can be in many games this year. However the Oaks would score two more goals in the second half putting the game out of reach. The Warriors would go on to lose the HVIAC semifinals to the Oaks ending their incredible season.
