The Vaughn College Warriors entered Saturday's match against non-conference opponent, Pratt Institue, on a two-game losing streak. However, unlike the Warriors previous matches, the men's soccer team had a fast start scoring a goal in the first two minutes of the game. Senior forward Ahkeem Bailey (Brooklyn, NY)  found the back of the net on a breakaway goal to give the Warriors an early 1-0 advantage against the Cannoneers. The Cannoneers responded scoring a goal of their own in the 16th minute to even the match at 1-1. The game would remain knotted at 1-1 until the early in the second half.

Defensive struggles would plague the Warriors in the second half of an intense game. The Warriors conceded two goals to the Cannoneers early in the second half and trailed Pratt Insitute 1-3 with 20 minutes left in the game. Freshman midfielder Kevin Quintero Rojas (College Point, NY) brought the Warriors one goal closer to tieng the match in the 80th minute. Quintero found the back of the net off of a rebound bringing the score to 2-3.

Unfortunately for the men's soccer team they could not capitalize on countless offensive opportunities to even the score. The Warriors had 22 shots in the game, 14 shots on goal, while the Cannoneers only had 13 shots in the game and seven shots on goal. The Cannoneers would score the final goal of the game in the 87th minute ending the Warriors chances for a comeback.

The loss drops the men's soccer teams record to 1-3 overall. The Warriors will look to get back in the win column on Sunday, October 6, when they travel to Poughkeepsie, NY to play Culinary Institute.
