Phoenix Cruise to 98-30 Victory Over Webb Institute
Glen Cove, NY – The Vaughn College Phoenix opened their 2024-25 season with a dominant 98-30 victory over Webb Institute on November 2, 2024. The Phoenix displayed an overwhelming offensive attack and relentless defense, cruising to a 68-point win behind a total team effort.
How It Happened:
Vaughn came out strong, taking a commanding 50-16 lead into halftime. The Phoenix's fast-paced offense and smothering defense limited Webb Institute to just 16 points in the first half, allowing them to establish a dominant lead.
The second half was much of the same, with Vaughn continuing to pour it on offensively and stifling Webb Institute's attempts at scoring. Vaughn outscored Webb 48-14 in the final 20 minutes, securing the 98-30 victory.
Key Performance:
Nathaniel Edwards was the standout player of the game, finishing with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and an impressive 10 steals.
Bartosz Sawon also had an outstanding performance, finishing with 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting and grabbing 11 rebounds, earning a double-double.
Rabiu Abubakar provided a spark off the bench, contributing 15 points, including a three-pointer, along with 3 rebounds and 2 assists. His scoring and energy played a key role in extending the Phoenix's lead.

Cedric Green was perfect from the field, going 3-for-3 for 8 points and 2 assists in just 14 minutes of play.
Seth Roselle added 9 points, 4 assists, 5 steals, and 1 block. His all-around performance was key in disrupting Webb Institute's offensive flow and forcing turnovers.
Team Stats:
Vaughn shot 51.9% from the field (41-of-79) and 40.0% from three-point range (8-of-20), while also making 72.7% of their free throws (8-of-11). With 48 total rebounds and 34 assists, the Phoenix were dominant in every facet of the game.
Defensively, Vaughn stifled Webb Institute, holding them to just 26.5% shooting (13-of-49) and an abysmal 0% from beyond the arc (0-of-9). The Phoenix forced 33 turnovers and registered 12 steals, making it a difficult night for the Webb offense.
