Warriors Host Five Towns College at Elmcor Recreation Center

CORONA, N.Y. - On Friday, February 10, the Vaughn College Warriors welcomed the Five Towns College (FTC) Sound to Elmcor Recreation Center. The two Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) opponents met earlier in the season. FTC got the best of the Warriors at home. The Warriors were looking for redemption hosting the Sound for this match-up.

It was a competitive first half. Both teams had auspicious starts but were able to find their identities as the game progressed. The Sound held a 13 point lead over the Warriors at the end of the first half. Senior forward Michael Reed (Freeport, NY) helped the Warriors remain in striking distance in the second half. Reed connected on six three-pointers in the game. His outside shooting was a huge lift for the Warriors.

The Warriors' comeback effort was short lived as the Sound was able to make some key plays late in the game to put the Warriors away for good. Reed finsihed with a team-high 18 points eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

Joshua Waithe (Brooklyn, NY) continued his solid play for the Warriors. Waithe registered 15 points, eight rebounds and two assits. Ean Chambers (Ewing Township, NJ) added 15 points and five assists.

The Warriors have two games remaining in the regular season. They will be on the road on Sunday, February 12, against Vermont Tech.
