Warriors Knock Off Kings College For The Second Time This Season; Three Players Record Double-Doubles

CORONA, N.Y. - The Vaughn College Warriors men's basketball team hosted Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) opponent, Kings College, on Thursday, January 26. The Warriors defeated the Kings College Lions earlier in the season 71-48. This match-up was more intense and competitive as both teams were looking to add a conference win for playoff contention.

Cedric Green (Brooklyn, NY) helped get the Warriors out to a blazing start. Green controlled the tempo of the game on both offense and defense. He finished with a career high 19 points on 8-12 shooting from the field. It has been a roller coaster season for the freshman point guard. This may be a huge turning point for Green.

The Warriors held a 17-point lead at halftime. Despite the comfortable lead, the Warriors did not slow down their offensive attack or lighten their defensive pressure. They would increase their lead in the second half enroute to a 65-45 victory.

Ean Chambers (Ewing Township, NJ)  recorded a monster double-double in the triumph. Chambers scored 13 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out five assists. Joshua Waithe (Brooklyn, NY) poured in 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. This was the fifth game Waithe has scored double-digits and his second double-double of the season. Salman Benzaid (Bronx, NY) registered his first double-double of the season. He finished with 10 points, 13 rebounds and four steals.

The win improves the Warriors record to 7-11 overall and 1-4 in the HVIAC.
