Vaughn Competes in Four Game Series against Fisher College

LYNN, M.A. - On Saturday, April 16, the Vaughn College men's baseball team traveled to Lynn, Massachussets, to play a four game series against divison II National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) opponent Fisher College. The Warriors competed in four games against the Fisher College Falcons over a two day span. 

The Warriors struggled  offensively and defensively in the first two games of the series. Francisco Candelario (Bronx, NY) and Johan Nunez (Kissimee, FL) were the only Warriors to generate hits. Vaughn College dropped both games without putting any runs on the scoreboard. 

On Sunday, April 17, the Warriors played with a higher level of focus in the final two games of the four game series. The Warriors recorded six hits, two rbi's (run's batted in) and scored two runs in Sunday's double-header. Although the Warriors were unable to earn any victories against Fisher College, they were able to contain the Falcon's offense.

Kevin Mendez (Wantagh, NY) and William Gomez matured as pitchers for the Warriors during the the Fisher College series. Mendez started in two games of the series, while Gomez came in for relief. 

The Warriors gained great experience playing against a high quality team. The losses drops the Warriors' record to 1-5 on the season. The men's baseball team will look to get back into the win column on Thursday, April 21, against Yeshiva University.
