Wright Pours In 24 Points To Give Warriors First Conference Win

The Vaughn College Warriors women's basketball team picked up their first Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win against Word of Life Bible on Thursday, December 12. 

Freshman guard Edwina Wright (New Orleans, LA) scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Warriors. Wright also grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists and had three steals in the game. 

The Warriors opened up a huge first quarter lead against the Huskies and never looked back. They out-rebounded the Huskies 41-38 and shot better from the free throw line. The Warriors converted on 50 % of the Huskies turnovers enroute to a huge win.

Alexa Cruz (Pompton Lakes, NJ) recorded her first double-double of the season. She finished with 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Zulieka Briceno (Yonkers, NY) had her best game of the season. She tallied six points, seven rebounds, two assists and seven steals. Tahisha Jocelyn (Elmont, NY) added eight points and seven rebounds. Joleen Gomez (Bridgeport, CT) chipped in seven points.
