Lady Warriors Outpaced by NJCU

The Vaughn College women's basketball team suffered their worse loss of the season on Tuesday, December 20, against NCAA division III opponent New Jersey City University (NJCU. Once again the Lady Warriors got off to a slow start offensively and defensively. NJCU capitalized off of careless turnovers by the young inexperienced Lady Warriors. At the halftime break the Lady Warriors were down by a large margin. The women's basketball team competed much better in the second half, but NJCU would go on to defeat the Lady Warriors to end their six game losing streak.

Maia Rivers (Dix Hills, NY) and Nicole White (St. Pauls, NC) were both bright spots for Vaughn College. Rivers finished the game with 16 points and seven rebounds. She shot a season high 11 free throws in the contest, connecting on nine of them. White also finished with 16 points and seven rebounds to go along with one block and two steals.

The loss drops the Lady Warriors' record to 2-7 on the season. They will have some time off to regroup and get completely healthy before taking the court again. On Monday, January 9, the Lady Warriors will be home against United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) division II opponent Penn State University Brandywine.
