Rivers Nabs All-Conference Honors

Sophomore guard Maia Rivers (Dix Hills, NY) was named to the All-HVIAC Women's Basketball Team for the 2015-16 season. Rivers was the Rookie of the Year for the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) in 2014-15. While the women's basketball team did not experience much success, Rivers continued to develop her game and emerged into a more vocal leader throughtout the season.

Rivers was primarily a spot-up shooter her freshman year, with unlimited range from the three point line. This season she has been asked to be the primary ball handler and decision maker on the team.   Rivers leads the HVIAC in minutes played, averaging 39.6 minutes per contest. Although her scoring is slightly down from her freshman year, Rivers was second in scoring in the HVIAC averaging 16.1 points per contest. Her hard work and dedication on and off the court has paid dividends and will allow her to be successful for the next couple of seasons.
