Lady Warriors vs. Pratt Institute

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Vaughn College women's basketball team dropped their second game in a row to Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) opponent Pratt Institute on Thursday, December 4. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter led by Christina Rivers (Bowie, MD). Rivers finished the game with 15 points on 5-11 shooting from the field, 3-3 from the free throw line, and 2-4 from distance. Unfortunately turnovers would be the difference in the game. Vaughn College turned the ball over 28 times. Pratt Institute capitalized off of the Warriors careless passes, scoring 27 points off of turnovers. 

At the half, the lady Warriors trailed Pratt by one point. Pratt would extend their lead in the second half to as much as 20 points before the Lady Warriors would respond and chip away at the huge deficit. Alexus Butler (Coram, NY) led the Warriors comeback in the fourth quarter. Bulter finished with a game high 17 points, and a team high eight rebounds. She also dished out three assists, and recoreded a career high six thefts in the contest. 

The women's basketball team would compete until time expired but would end up falling to Pratt by a final score of 64-51. The Lady Warriors will have a chance to redeem themselves on Sunday, December 13, against USCAA division II opponent Southern Maine C.C.
