Lady Warriors Battle Back to Win Season Opener

QUEENS, N.Y. - The Vaughn College women's basketball team opened up their season against Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) opponent King's College on Thursday, November 12. For most of the game the Warriors were outplayed by the Lions. King's College had the advantage in field goal percentage, three point percentage, and out-rebounded the Warriors 54-46. Despite playing the majority of the game from behind, the Warriors stayed within striking distance of the lead. Vaughn College would battled back from a late 10 point deficit to defeat King's College by a final score of 51-46. 

Sophomore guard Maia Rivers (Dix Hills, NY) finished with a game high 23 points, seven rebounds, and five steals. Rookie guard Christina Rivers (Bowie, MD) was the second leading scorer for the Warriors. She finished with 11 points and four rebounds in her debut. Alexus Butler (Coram, NY) added four points and pulled down a team high 16 rebounds.

The women's basketball team will return to the court on Thursday, November 19, against Penn State Schuylkill.
