Peterson Scores 48 in Warriors Win against Davis College

JOHNSON CITY,  N.Y. – The women's basketball team got a huge bounce back victory over Davis College on Monday, January 12, at the Robb Activity Center. Just before the winter break the Warriors suffered their worst loss of the season against Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) opponent, Berkeley College. Motivated to get back in the win column, the Warriors played disciplined offense and defense against the Falcons. The Warriors took care of the ball, and limited their turnovers which plagued them in their previous game.  Vaughn College owned a 34-24 lead at the break. The Warriors would go on to defeat the Falcons by a final score of 79-48.

Junior guard Cianna Peterson (Detroit, MI) set new school records for most points scored in a single game and most three- pointers made in a single game. Peterson registered 48 points and hit nine triples in the Warriors route over the Falcons. She is the current United States College Athletic Association (USCAA) Division ll leading scorer and is the top scorer in the HVIAC.

The Warriors only dressed six people for the game. Everyone participated and contributed to the win. Maia Rivers (Dix Hills, NY) finished the game with 19 points, and Aiysha Dunlap added nine points.

The women's basketball team is back in action on Friday, January 16, against the University of Maine Presque-Isle. The game will be played at the Elmcor Recreation Center at 11 a.m.
