Vaughn Warriors Athletics Update: Fall 2020

After much consideration and ongoing uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, our priority is the health and well-being of our student-athletes. Although it was a tough decision to make, Vaughn College has suspended intercollegiate sport programs for the fall 2020 semester. The postponement applies to HVIAC (Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) varsity sports, which include, men's and women's cross country, men's soccer, and women's tennis. We hope to resume these programs in spring 2021. Plans for winter and spring sport programs have not been finalized at this time. We will continue working with the HVIAC and will provide details as they become available.

"These are difficult times for all of us. Making a decision like this and knowing the impact it has on our student-athletes made it complicated and difficult. Ultimately, the health and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches and community took precedent," said Vaughn College Director of Athletics, Fitness and Wellness Ricky Mccollum. "Although fall sports have been postponed, my staff and I are working diligently to provide engagement opportunities and fitness activities for our student-athletes in preparation for the return of collegiate competition."

In the coming weeks the athletic administration is looking to implement multiple programs that are catered to the needs of our student-athletes. All athletic programs will be individual based or in a small group setting in accordance with United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and HVIAC regulations. All athletic programs will also follow, and be in accordance with the guidelines of the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Please visit our website at www.vaughnwarriors.com to find alternative athletic program offerings for the fall 2020 semester. We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
