Warriors Travel to Five Town College For HVIAC Match

Dix Hills, N.Y. -- The Warriors men's soccer team traveled to Five Towns College to face the Sound in a Hudson Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match on Saturday, October 9. The last time the two teams played, the Warriors came from behind to defeat the Sound 2-1. Senior captain Azzedine Sekkat (Astoria, NY) scored the game winning goal to eliminate the Sound from playoff contention. The Warriors entered the contest coming off a 2-2 draw against Word of Life/Davis. Unfortunately for the Warriors, several starters were not available for their second and most difficult game on their schedule.

It didn't take long for the Sound to jump out to an early lead in the first half. The Warriors played undermanned and out of position for the entire match. The Sound was able to take advantage of the holes in the Warriors' line-up. For the first time in two years the Warriors faced a huge deficit in the first half.

The Warriors settled down in the second half. They were able to move the ball as a unit up the field and defended the goal at a high level. Despite the goal disparity the Warriors competed to the end of the match against the number one team in the HVIAC.

The loss drops the Warriors to 0-1-1 in the HVIAC while the Sound remain perfect in conference play 3-0.
