Sekkat and Perez Lead Warriors to Victory in Season Opener

The Warriors' men's soccer team opened up their season against Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) opponent Kings College on Sunday, September 17. It was a tough gritty game but the Warriors came away with a 2-1 victory over the Lions. 

Azzeddine Sekkat (Astoria, NY) scored the first goal of the season to give the Warriors a one goal lead in the first half. The Warriors would not hold the lead for long as the Lions fought back and tied the game at 1-1.The Warriors took control of the game in the second half. They dominated the time of possession and played with poise and composure. Freshmen Richard Perez (Brooklyn, NY) scored the go ahead goal off on assist from Jevoy James (Brooklyn, NY). 

The win improves the Warriors to 1-0 for the season. They will be back in action on Thursday, September 21, against HVIAC opponent Pratt Institute. The two conference opponents will play at Randall's Island at 9 p.m.
