Warriors Sweep Second Annual Veteran’s Softball Game

QUEENS, N.Y. – On Saturday, May 2, the men's baseball team competed in the second annual Vaughn College Veteran's Softball game at Padavan-Preller Fields. In total we had 11 Vaughn College Veterans and 11 varsity baseball players who participated in the double-header exhibition event. Family and friends came out to support both teams including the president of Vaughn College, Dr. Sharon DeVivo.

The Warriors won the first five–inning game of the double-header in convincing fashion. Sound defense and timely hitting catapulted the Warriors to a 3-0 game one victory. In game two, the Vaughn College Veterans jumped out to a seven run lead. That lead would hold until the bottom of the fifth inning. Down to their final two outs, the Warriors hit three homeruns, two homeruns with runners on base.  The Warriors would go on to pull off an amazing comeback to defeat the Vaughn Veterans 8-7 in the second game of the double-header.

With the growing enthusiasm and interest for the Vaughn College Veteran's Softball game, this event will continue to improve and expand yearly.
