Warriors Battle Yeshiva University

BRONX, N.Y. - On Sunday, April 26, the men's baseball team played a double-header contest against the Yeshiva University Maccabees. Both teams entered the game looking for their first win of the season. The first game of the double-header was a slug fest. The Warriors got off to a hot start scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. The Maccabees would respond, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning to recapture the lead.  At the top of the second inning, freshman Kelvin Medina (Bronx, NY) hit a two run homerun over the left-field fence. Medina finished game one of the double-header with one hit, one run scored, and two runs batted in (RBIs). The Warriors had a 5-4 lead heading into the fourth inning, but errors and careless mistakes would hurt them down the stretch. The Maccabees would rally late to secure a 9-6 victory in game one over the Warriors. Unfortunately, the Warriors would not recover from the tough three point loss in game one of the double-header. In game two, they struggled to score any runs and would go on to drop the second game of the double-header as well.

Senior Fredrick Thomas (Brooklyn, NY) was a huge bright spot for the Warriors. He played his best game of the season in the tough loss to the Maccabees. Thomas recorded one hit and drove in three runs in the double-header. Outfielder Michael Dunn (Centerport, NY) had his first multi-hit game of the year. Dunn finished the game with two hits and scored one run for the Warriors.

Though this was the last regular season game for the Warriors, the men's baseball team will participate in the second annual Vaughn College Veteran's softball game. The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, May 2, at Padavan-Preller Fields. This will be a double-header exhibition game, starting at 3:30 p.m.
