Veterans' Softball Game

Veterans' Softball Game

Vaughn College hosted a friendly co-ed exhibition softball game at Padavan Preller Fields on Sunday April 27, 2014. Over 50 participants and spectators came out to support the event. Two teams were put together to compete against each other in a double-header contest. One team was compiled of Vaughn College Veterans and members of the men's varsity baseball team, the other team was a mix of Vaughn College students and alumni. Each game lasted five innings. The games were fun and very competitive. There were umpires to call all of the scores and outs in both games. There was also a trainer on staff for the event to treat any pre-existing injuries or any injuries that may have occurred during the games for all participants.

The Vaughn College students and alumni team beat the Vaughn College Veteran's and men's baseball players' team, winning both games of the double-header in convincing fashion.  Even though the Vaughn students and alumni dominated both games they showed great sportsmanship, cheering on the other team when they were batting and when they made great defensive plays.

After both games were over the teams shook hands and took pictures. Food and drinks were served to everyone that came out to support the Veterans' softball game, capping off a great sporting event. Due to the impressive turnout and support for the Veterans' softball game, Vaughn College has expressed intentions to host the game as an annual event.
