Warriors Drop Both Games in Double Header Against the St. Joseph’s College Bears

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – April 18, 2014, the Warriors men's baseball team faced off against the St. Joseph's College Bears in a double-header contest at MCU Park. MCU Park is the home of the Mets minor league team, the Brooklyn Cyclones. This match-up marked the first meeting between the two teams in the history of the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Conference (HVIAC). The Bears jumped all over the Warriors in both games recording two three-hitter shutouts. The Warriors failed to put up any runs in either game of the double-header, losing in the first game by a score of 25-0 and the second game 15-0. Both games went five innings.

Allan Camacho (East Elmhurst, NY) pitched in the first game of the double-header for the Warriors. He threw a total of 145 pitches, 85 of them were strikes. Camacho walked three batters, recorded two strike- outs, and gave up 10 earned runs. Tyriq Reddick (Uniondale, NY), Adrian Zamora (Brooklyn, NY), and Francisco Candelario each recorded a hit in game one.

Candelario took the mound in game two of the double header. He threw 118 pitches, 67 of them were strikes. Candelario walked five batters, recorded one strike-out, and gave up 12 earned runs. Ramon Marte (Corona, NY) and Reddick both recorded double plays for the Warriors. Marte, Camacho, and Mikhail Rodriguez (Jamaica, NY) were the only Warriors to hit the ball in the second game of the double- header.

The Warriors men's baseball team drops to 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in the HVIAC. The Warriors look to get their first win of the season when they take on the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) at Padavan Preller Field. The game will be played on 4/21/14 at 4p.m.
