Women Open Season Against Defending HVIAC Champions

The Vaughn College women's tennis team opened up their 2019-20 season against a very difficult Pratt Institute team on Friday, September 20. Pratt Institute has dominated the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) for the past three seasons. From 2016-2018 the Pratt Cannoneers have been named the HVIAC regular season champions and have won the HVIAC tournament championship. The women's tennis team knew it would be a tough task to accomplish but they competed extremely well against the defending HVIAC champions.

Ebaneeka Wilkins (East Elmhurst, NY) and Omonhene Eimunjeze (New York, NY) both scored a point against their singles opponents competing at the number one and number four positions respectively. Debra Cassidy (Poughquag, NY) scored six points against her singles opponent competing  in the number six position.

Cheres Castaneda (Brooklyn, NY) and Grace Davis (Belfast, ME) paired up to compete in the number two doubles position. They scored one point against their number two doubles opponents.

The women's tennis team will face two NCAA Division III teams in their next two matches. Albertus Magnus College (CT) will be their next opponent followed by Mount Saint Mary (NY).
