Women Advance to their Second HVIAC Championship Match

The Warriors women's tennis team advanced to their second Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) championship match in consecutive seasons after defeating the College of New Rochelle (CNR) 5-2 in the HVIAC semifinals on Saturday, October 13. 

The HVIAC recently changed their playoff format. The first team to earn five points advances to the next round. The Warriors got off to a great start by winning two out of three doubles matches giving the women's tennis team a huge advantage. Christina DeLuca (Massapequa, NY) and Grace Davis (Belfort, Maine) defeated their number one doubles opponent 8-1. Emely Castillo (Bronx, NY) and Angela Wright (Northport, NY) defeated their number three doubles opponents 8-1. Cheres Castaneda (Brooklyn, NY) also picked up a huge win for the Warriors defeating her number three singles opponent 8-1. It was a great collective team victory. 

The women's tennis team will be back in action in the HVIAC Championship on  Sunday, October 21,  at the USTA. The match will begin at 4pm.
