Women's Tennis Compete in First HVIAC Title Match in Program History

The Warriors women's tennis team competed in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Championships on Sunday, October 29. The HVIAC Championships was hosted by Pratt Institute at the Pratt Activities Resource Center (ARC).

The women's tennis team defeated the College of New Rochelle (CNR), 5-2, in the HVIAC semifinals. Maia Rivers (Dix Hills, NY) and Christina Deluca (Massapequa, NY) led the Warriors against the CNR Blue Angels. Rivers defeated her number one singles opponent 8-0 and Deluca outlasted her number three singles opponent, 8-3. Vaughn won two doubles matches against the Blue Angels. The victory advanced the women's tennis team to their first HVIAC title match in program history.

The Warriors women's tennis team faced the Pratt Institute Cannoneers in the HVIAC finals. Pratt entered the HVIAC finals match with a six game win streak. The Cannoneers were unbeaten in conference play during the regular season. Pratt has won the last four HVIAC women's tennis championships.

The Warriors competed extremely hard but was no match for Cannoneers. The women's tennis team struggled to score points in their singles and doubles matches against Pratt. The Warriors would go on to lose to the Cannoneers in the HVIAC title match.

Though it was a tough loss, the women's tennis team gained valuable playoff experience and finals experience during their HVIAC Championships run. The women's tennis team will look to build upon the success they had this year and carry it over into next season.
