Women Pick Up First Win of the Season

The Warriors' women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season against Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) opponent, College of New Rochelle. The women's tennis team have struggled early on in the season but have made improvements every match. The Warriors defeated the Blue Angels by a final score of 6-3.

It took a complete team effort for the women's tennis team to secure their first victory. Maia Rivers (Dix Hills, NY), Christina Deluca (Massapequa, NY), Cheres Castaneda (Brooklyn, NY) and Omomhene Eimunjeze (New York, NY) each picked up wins against their singles' opponents. Rivers and Deluca both defeated their singles' opponents by a final score of 10-4. Castaneda won her singles match 10-3. Omomhene blanked her singles' opponent 10-0. 

The Warriors won two out of three doubles matches. Deluca was paired with Grace Davis to (Belfast, ME) to defeat their number two doubles' opponents 8-3. Castaneda and Eimunjeze were slated in the number three doubles position. They defeated their opponents' 8-1.

This was a much needed win for the women's tennis team. Their next opponent will be a non-conference match the against SUNY Delhi Broncos.
