The Vaughn College women's basketball team dueled NCAA division III non-conference opponent Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday, January 12. The Warriors entered the contest a perfect 2-0 against the Gryphons. However this meeting would be a lot different for the short-handed Warriors.

Only five players were able to suit up for the women's basketball team adding to the adversities that the young Warriors team had to overcome. They competed extremely hard but struggled scoring the basketball and rebounding on defense. 

Marceisha Howard (Fort Worth, TX) returned to the Warriors' line-up after taking a semester off from school for personal reasons. Howard led the Warriors in points and rebounds in her first game back with team. She finished with 15 points,  a career-high 16 rebounds, six steals and a career-high three blocks in a losing effort. 

Freshman Zuleika Briceno (Bronx, NY) had a solid game for the Warriors. She ended the game with six points, six rebounds, four steals and one block. Jazmin Garcia (Yonkers, NY) added six points and two rebounds. 

The Warriors will face St. Joseph's College (VT) on Tuesday, January 15, at Elmcor Recreation Center.
