Lady Warriors Come Up Big against Penn State Worthington Scranton

The Vaughn College women's basketball team hosted the visiting Lions from Penn State University Worthington Scranton on Sunday, January 7, at Elmcor Recreation Center. This was the first game for the Lady Warriors after being on Christmas break.

The Lady Warriors were short-handed for the non-conference contest. Despite only having five available players for the game, the Lady Warriors played with a high level of focus and competitive spirit. Their effort and and energy helped propel them to victory over the PSU Worthington Scranton Lions. 

It was a complete team effort as all five players gave helpful contributions. Marceisha Howard (Fort Worth, TX) led the Lady Warriors in scoring. Howard knocked down six triples in the win. She ended the game with 24 points, six rebounds and five steals. 

Nicole White (St. Pauls, NC) and Maia Rivers (Dix Hills, NY) both recorded double-doubles in the triumph. White finished the game with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Rivers scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. 

Grace Tatom (Laurelton, NY) had a strong game with a career-high seven rebounds, four steals and two assist. Jazmin Garcia (Yonkers, NY) added three points and one rebound. 

The win improves the Lady Warriors' record to 3-3. They will travel to New Jersey on Thursday, January 11, to face the College of Saint Elizabeth.
