Warriors Still Searching For Conference Win

MANHATTAN, N.Y. - The Vaughn College Warriors hosted the defending Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) champions on Wednesday, October 5. Five Towns College  (FTC) went had a remarkable run in the 2021-22. After winning the HVIAC post-season championship they went on to win the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) division II championship. The Warriors entered the game coming off of a win over non-conference opponent Cooper Union.

Vaughn College and Five Towns College have had great battles over the past few years. In the 2019-20  Vaughn College defeated FTC at the end of the regular season eliminating the Sound from qualifying for the HVIAC post-season. The Warriors went on to play in the HVIAC semi-finals.

Both teams played extremely physical throughout the match. Despite the Sound getting out to an early lead, the Warriors continued to pressure the ball and create scoring opportunities. The Warriors competed with great effort against the defending national champions, but would go on to fall to the Sound 6-1.

Macoumba Ndiaye (Harlem, NY) scored the lone goal for the Warriors. He was assisted by Alfredo Covarrubias (Howard Beach, NY)

The loss drops the Warriors record to 2-4 on the year. They will travel to Culinary Institute of America (CIA) for their next contest.
