Warriors End Season Against the Blue Angels

The men's soccer team hosted the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels for their final game of the season on Sunday, October 22. The Warriors played the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) contest with 10 players and no subsitutes the entire game. The men's soccer team has dealt with a lot of adversity throughout the season but have found ways to remain competitive against all of their opponennts.

The Blue Angels had a 1-0 advantage at the break. Despite playing with a man down, the Warriors fought their way back in the second half. Freshman midfielder Azzeddine Sekkat (Astoria, NY) scored early in the second half to tie the game at 1-1. The game would not be tied for long, as the Blue Angels scored another goal to regain the lead.

There was no quit in the Warriors in their final game. Junior forward Denis Moshchenko (Brooklyn, NY) scored the second goal for Vaughn College, assisted by Sekkat. Moshchenko's goal tied the game at 2-2.  Unfortunately the Warriors conceded three more goals to the Blue Angels putting the game out of reach.

The undermanned Warriors competed extremely hard but would go on to lose to the Blue Angels by a final score of 6-2. The Warriors end the season with a 4-5 record in the HVIAC and 4-6 record overall. They will miss the HVIAC playoffs for the second year in a row.
