Vaughn College vs. Berkeley College

Vaughn College and Berkeley College (NY) have developed a competitive rivalry over the past four years. The men's soccer team defeated the Berkeley College Knights for the first time in school history last season. Both teams met eachother on Wednesday, October 11, for a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) match-up.

It was a game of two halves for the Warriors. In the first half the Warriors played exceptional defense frustrating the Knights' offensive attack. The drama between the two programs picked up right before the end of the first half. Mohammed Aladorous (East Elmhurst, NY) scored the first goal of the game in the 42 minute. The Knights would respond scoring a goal  40 seconds after to tie the game at 1-1. In the waning moments of the first half, Azzedidne Sekkatt (Astoria, NY) scored an incredible goal from the midfield circle. Vaughn College held a 2-1 lead over Berkeley College at halftime.

The Knights played extremely aggressive on by sides of the ball in the second half. The Warriors struggled to remain disciplined on defense and made costly errors in critical moments of the game. The Warriors would relinquish their lead in the second half. The Knights scored three goals in the second half to give them a two goal advantage. Vaughn College would go on to fall to Berkeley College by a final score of 4-2.

The loss drops the Warriors' record to 4-4 overall and 4-3 in the HVIAC. The men's soccer team will travel to Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to take on the Steels in a crucial conference game for the Warriors on Saturday, October 14.
