The Vaughn College Warriors played their final game of the regular season against the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels. The Warriors escaped with a 75-70 victory over the Blue Angels in their first meeting between the two programs in the 2016-17 season. The Blue Angels got revenge over the Warriors defeating them last season at the Warriors' home gym in Queens, NY. The third match-up between them unfortunately did not have an exciting ending as their first two previous match-ups.
The Warriors entered the contest undermanned and outmatched. Despite the obstacles the Warriors had to overcome in the game, sophomore HVIAC All-Conference guard Kemarlie Mclean (Brooklyn, NY) poured in a game-high 29 points. Mclean has scored 20+ points in nine contests this season. Johnny Guity (Bronx, NY) scored a career-high 13 points on 6-7 shooting from the field. This was the third game in a row that Guity has scored double-digits. Patrick Silva Da Cruz (Yonkers, NY) chipped in 5 points and seven rebounds. Michael Reed (Freeport, NY) added five points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
The season did not end in triumph for the Warriors as they would go on to lose to the Blue Angels. The loss drops the Warriors to 2-5 in the HVIAC and out of playoff contention.
