Mclean's 34 Points Not Enough Against ASA College (Manhattan)

The Vaughn College Warriors faced non-conference opponent ASA College (Manhattan) on Thursday, December 13. The Warriors entered the game with a 3-1 record. This was the first meeting between both teams in program history.

Kemarlie Mclean (Brooklyn) led the way for the men's basketball team. Mclean scored 34 points and recorded a career-high nine steals in a losing effort. This was the second game that Mclean has scored 30+ points this season. Freshman guard Rashekem Ausar (Seattle, WA) had a tough outing against ASA (Manhattan). Ausar dealt with foul trouble all game. He finished with 16 points, shooting under than 50% from the field, and four rebounds.  Michael Reed (Freeport, NY) added 14 points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

The first half was exciting filled with faced-past offesive action by both teams. The Warriors led for most of the first half but went into the break trailing ASA (Manhattan) by one point. Unfortunately the Warriors were unable to regain the lead from ASA (Manhattan). They had their opportunities to even the score and go ahead late in the second half but were unable to capitalize. 

The loss drops the Warriors record to 3-2 on the season. The Warriors will play ASA College (Manhattan) again later this season in the second semester.
