Warriors defeat Bryn Athyn College

On Wednesday, January 4, the Vaughn College men's basketball team won their fifth consecutive game defeating NCAA division III non-conference opponent Bryn Athyn College by a final score of 75-56. The win improves the Warriors' record to 6-3 on the season. 

The Warriors controlled the tempo of the game playing strictly in the half court. Both teams played exceptional defense in the first half limiting offensive scoring opportunities. Vaughn College trailed Bryn Athyn College 27-25 at halftime. The Warriors continued their great defensive play in the second half, but would erupt offensively as well. Vaughn College shot 57.1 percent from the field, 45.5 percent from behind the three-point line, and 76.5 percent from the charity stripe in the second half. 

Three players scored double-figures for Vaughn College. Kevin Vanderpool (Yonkers, NY) led all scorers with a game high 30 points and and 11 rebounds. Michael Pena (Dumont, NJ) registered 15 points in the game including three triples. Ian Parker (Yonkers, NY) added 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds. 

The Warriors will take on NCAA division II Mercy College in a non-conference match-up on Saturday, January 7. The two teams will play at Westchester Community College at 2:30 p.m. The game will be streamed live on (www.vaughnwarriors.com) and (www.mercyathletics.com).
