Undermanned Warriors Clash with the Berkeley College Knights

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The Vaughn College Warriors squared off against the Berkeley College (NY) Knights on Wednesday, February 10, at the College of New Rochelle. Both teams entered the contest undefeated in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC). The Warriors were 6-0 in the HVIAC and the Knights were 5-0 in the HVIAC. There was a lot of hype and anticipation leading up to the the battle of the unbeaten, but the Warriors would be without three critical players for this conference rivalry game.

At the end of the first half the Warriors trailed the Knights 36-30. The Warriors were able to disrupt the Knight's fast break offense, and limit their shot attempts in the half court. Unfortunately for the Warriors foul trouble and the lack of depth would hurt them in the second half. The Berkeley Knights would pull away in the second half to hand the Warriors their only loss in the HVIAC.

The Warriors were led by guards Michael Pena (Dumont, NJ) and Joshua Colome (Bronx, NY). Both Pena and Colome poured in 16 points a piece in the game. Jalomar Ryan (Queens, NY) chipped in 10 points and five rebounds. Ian Parker (Yonkers, NY) added seven points and four rebounds.

The loss drops the Warriors' record to 6-1 in the HVIAC and 13-5 overall. The Vaughn College Warriors will be back in action on Thursday, February 11, against the New School Narwharls.
