Warriors Drop Back to Back Games in New Hampshire

CONCORD, N.H. - The men's basketball team dropped two games over the weekend in New Hampshire. The Warriors' first contest was on Friday, January 15, against the University of Maine Augustus (UMaine Augustus). It was a back and forth game from the opening jump ball. Neither team was able to pull away from the other. Vaughn College was called for a blocking foul with 2 seconds to go in the game. UMaine Augustus would hit a pair of free throws to defeat the Warriors 79-77.

Michael Pena (Dumont, NJ) had a huge offensive game against UMaine Augustus. The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) player of the year candidate poured in a game high 31 points, to go along with 3 rebounds and four assists.

Warriors' co captain Moises Chaucer (Bronx, NY) recorded his sixth double-double of the season. Chaucer finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Sergio Mejia (New YorK, NY) chipped in 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Saturday, January 16, the men's basketball team had a chance to redeem themselves, after a tough two point lost the night before, against the New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) Lynx. The mental hangover from the Warriors' battle with UMaine Augustus hurt Vaughn College during their game with NHTI. The Lynx got out to a huge lead over the Warriors and never looked back. At the half the Warriors found themselves trailing the Lynx by 12. The Lynx would extend their lead to as many as 25 points in the second half, but the Warriors would make a late push to get back into the game.

Maleec Taylor (Rockville Centre, NY) Sergio Mejia and Moises Chaucer lead the Warriors' comeback against the Lynx. Each player scored 16 points a piece in the contest. Unfortunately for the Warriors, NHTI hit huge shots down the stretch to secure a double-digit vitory.

The Warriors are now 9-3 on the season. The men's basketball team will return to the court on Tuesday, January 19 against Fisher College.
