Men End Three Game Slide

QUEENS, N.Y. – The men's basketball defeated State University of New York (SUNY) Environmental Sciences and Forestry (ESF) 90-66 to end their three game slide on Sunday, January 25. Four Warriors scored over double figures in the game. Sergio Mejia (Dyckman, NY) scored a game high 23 points and was the high man for the Warriors in rebounding, grabbing nine total. Moises Chaucer (Bronx, NY) and Rashad Luckett (Chicago, IL) chipped in 13 points apiece. Maleec Taylor (Rockville Centre, NY) added 10 points and dished out five assists.

At the halftime break, the Warriors owned a 57-31 lead over SUNY ESF. The Warriors were able to control the glass, out-rebounding SUNY ESF by more than 10 rebounds in the game. Ball movement and quick decisions was helped  the Warriors have much success on offense. As a team, the Warriors dished out 19 assists. The Warriors forced SUNY ESF to turn the ball over 31 times, scoring 36 points off of them. The Warriors put the game out of reach in the second half, going up by as many as 35 points at one point. Everyone was able to participate in the game for the Warriors, making it a complete team victory.

The win improves the men's record to 3-2 at home, and 7-11 overall. The men's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, January 31, when they host Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) opponent Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The game will be played at the Elmcor Recreation Center at 3 p.m.
