Jeffrey Noel Hits Career 1000 Point

ASTORIA, NY- Jeffrey Noel (Brooklyn, NY) reached his career 1,000 point during Sunday's game against New School. Noel finished with a season and game high 34 points. He connected on two of six 3-pointers and was a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe. The win over New School improves the Warrior's record to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Noel began his collegiate basketball career at Borough of Manhattan Community College better known as BMCC. He played for two seasons at BMCC where he experienced success on the basketball court and in the classroom. Noel was named to the CUNY All-Star First Team as well as the All-Region Team. Noel left BMCC earning an associate's degree in business administration.

Noel would next play at Brooklyn College where he competed for the Bulldogs for a year. Looking to finish his senior season at Brooklyn College, Noel was informed he had no more basketball eligibility. Determined to play his final year of college basketball, Noel ended up at Vaughn College. Head coach Ricky McCollum reviewed Noel's eligibility case and felt that he could gain Noel's final year of eligibility back. Coach McCollum and Noel spent months emailing and writing letters to the HVIAC and the NCAA compliance offices. With all the documentation that was presented to both compliance offices, Noel was awarded a medical redshirt year of eligibility from when he attended Dowling College in 2010-2011.

With another year of eligibility left to play, Noel has taken full advantage of the opportunity. He has been a steady productive force for the Vaughn College Warriors this season. Noel is averaging 21.1 points per game, leading the team in scoring three times this season. He is currently studying general management at Vaughn College striving to complete the degree program within the next academic year. At the end of spring 2014, Noel is expected to finish his bachelor's in business management of finance and receive his degree from Brooklyn College.

Noel has traveled down a long and rugged road, but if you ask him, he will tell you he has learned a lot about life and has matured tremendously during the process. Noel's parents were unable to attend the game due to the disabilities that they are battling. However, Noel's older sister, his older sister's boyfriend, and Noel's girlfriend were able to witness the historic milestone.

On behalf of Vaughn College and Vaughn College Athletics we would like to congratulate Jeffrey Noel wish him continued success on his basketball journey.
