Bright Light at Monclair State Holiday Tournament

ASTORIA, NY – There were not many positives that the Warriors could take away as first-time participants at the Montclair State Holiday Tournament. The Warriors were blown out in both games. Against Montclair State, the Warriors had no answer for Montclair States fast break offense. Montclair ran the Warriors out of the gym with most of their points coming off of fast break opportunities. Montclair State defeated the Warriors 104-61 in convincing fashion. In day two of the tournament, the Warriors faced off against a tough Neumann College team. Neumann jumped on top of the Warriors early and never looked back. Neumann College defeated the Warriors 79-45.

The Warriors did see the return of starting point guard Rashad Luckett (Chicago/Stafford High TX) during the Montclair State Holiday Tournament. Luckett has been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury that has kept him out of game action for several weeks. It took Luckett a little time to get his feet back underneath him and find his game. Luckett returned to midseason form as he made four 3-pointers in the game against Montclair State, finishing with 14 points for the game. Luckett followed up that performance with a 10 point outing against Neumann College. Hitting double figures in both games in the Montclair State Holiday Tournament, earned Luckett All-Tournament honors.

The return of Luckett should provide stability in the back court and will be a tremendous help to the Warriors offense. Luckett's ability to be a floor general was missed during his absence. The Warriors are excited to have Luckett back especially since the team has been devastated with injuries all season.
